Destiny 2 Forsaken Trailer, Annual Pass And Year 2 Details Revealed (VIDEO)
Today Bungie revealed the first details of its next major expansion for Destiny 2, titled ‘Forsaken’. Revealed in a 9-minute trailer alongside input from the developers, loads of new content part of the game’s upcoming ‘annual pass’ was also announced, along with what to expect from Year 2 of the game, which debuts at the same time as the expansion. Check out the trailer for Destiny 2: Forsaken below:
The Destiny 2: Forsaken expansion takes players to the Tangled Shore, wherein the Guardians are tasked with defeating the prisoners that have escaped the Prison of Elders, where Cayde has been housing previously captured enemies. Accompanying this new task is a new PvPvE game mode known as Gambit. In Gambit, a team of Guardians competes to kill the final boss before the other team, all the while defeating other enemies and collecting currency as they go along. In order to hinder the enemy team, players can block said team from banking their currency, and in certain circumstances can jump to the enemy team’s arena and kill them.
Naturally each class is getting all new supers to aid them in the new expansion, with Titans receiving Flaming Hammers, Hunters getting Flaming Knives, and Warlocks receiving an as-yet unnamed type of teleportation. Guardians can also look forward to the addition of bows, which, of course, shoot laser arrows. Here’s what to expect in the new expansion:
Destiny 2: Forsaken
- Hunt Down the 8 Barons and their Crew
- Two New Destinations: The Tangled Shore and The Dreaming City
- A Brand-New Raid
- Introducing Gamibt, a 4v4 Competitive PvE Mode
- Wield New Powers with Nine Additional Supers
- Collect New Exotic Weapons, Armor, and Gear
- All-New Weapon Archetype, Legendary Bow
- New Story Missions, Adventures, Destination Activities, and more
Bungie also announced the Destiny 2 annual pass. Not to be confused with a season pass, the annual pass will provide access to three “premium content releases” for Destiny 2, the first of which begins later this year. According to Bungie, each of the upcoming content drops will feature loads of new weapons and armor, exotics, pinnacle activities, endgame challenges, and more. Here are the names and scheduled release windows for the annual pass:
Destiny 2 – Annual Pass
- Black Armory, winter 2018
- Joker’s Wild, spring 2019
- Penumbra, summer 2019
Before the first release window for the annual pass, Destiny 2 players can look forward to the start of Year 2 of Destiny 2, which begins on September 4, the same day as the release date for Destiny 2: Forsaken. Some of the promised content that players will be getting include new Crucible Maps, a new Crucible mode, 200 additional Vault slots, new Bounties, and the long-anticipated ability to delete multiple shaders at once. Check out the official Destiny 2 development roadmap below to see what’s coming in the next few months:
Destiny 2: Forsaken arrives on September 4, 2018. The price of the next expansion is $39.99 on its own, though a bundle of Forsaken and the annual pass will be available for $69.99. Those looking to nab some exclusive Awoken-Themed in-game items can do so by purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition of the expansion for $79.99, which includes Forsaken, the annual pass, and the mentioned items.
