Destiny 2 Endgame: Bungie Gives Players An Outline Of Coming Changes

Destiny 2 Endgame discussion

Fans that have been waiting patiently for the Destiny 2 PC release have finally been able to sink their teeth into the game, and many Guardians are already wondering what comes next for Bungie’s popular MMORPG. Staying true to its promise of consistent updates, Bungie has released a blog post acknowledging player feedback, while also outlining what’s to come for the Destiny 2 endgame.

Per Game director Chris Barrett, he and the rest of the Bungie team are “always thinking about where the game is heading next,” and wanted to inform the players as to what the developer is currently working on. Barrett lays out the team’s plans below, while also hinting at an upcoming emote wheel feature arriving sometime in the future.

Destiny 2 endgame updates

  • New systems and rewards to give our most engaged players additional, optional pursuits.
  • Better incentives for players who complete challenging Prestige activities.
  • Better rewards and replay value for strikes, adventures, and Lost Sectors.
  • Private matches for the competitive community (we are targeting early 2018).
  • Crucible tuning like adjusted Supremacy scoring and better spawning rules.
  • Better incentives for completing Crucible matches (and penalties for quitting competitive games).
  • Continued improvements to Iron Banner and Faction Rallies, including uniqueness of rewards.
  • Changes to make the mod economy more interesting and impactful.
  • Ongoing improvements to Exotics, including adjustments to reduce instances of duplication.
  • New ways to spend surplus currency and materials (looking at you Legendary Shards).
  • An emote interface that allows players to equip Salty, Spicy Ramen, Six Shooter, and Flip Out all at the same time.

As seen above, the game director’s focus seems to be on rewards and added incentives for replaying existing content. As many Destiny 2 players will know, the game is currently sorely lacking on said incentives, so this shows that Bungie is actively listening and acting on player feedback. With legions of PC players having recently joined the fray, Bungie will be looking to please its Destiny 2 players on two different fronts, and the outline above is a good step towards doing so. Now all that’s left is to wait and see if the execution lives up to Bungie’s Destiny 2 endgame plans.

So, thoughts on Bungie’s upcoming Destiny 2 plans? What else would you like to see implemented into the game in the future?
