Destiny 2 Acknowledges Players’ Destiny 1 Achievements in a Unique Way (GALLERY)

Destiny 1 Achievements in a Unique Way (GALLERY)

Destiny 2 may have that “2” in its title, but the Bungie-developed shooter is seen as a new beginning in many respects. The sequel follows brand-new characters adventuring in a brand-new story, but features more than a few nods to the original game. Before the game even begins, Destiny 2 contains a treat that returning players will undoubtedly enjoy: a lovely montage of their previous Destiny 1 achievements.

As seen in the images above and below, gamers that played through the first Destiny are greeted with a highlight reel of all the biggest feats they’ve overcome. Sporting a black and white sketch art style, the recap showcases those past accomplishments alongside small details such as the date it took place and names of other guardians that aided in memorable quests. The final slide then prompts players to press a button to “start a new adventure.”

Since Destiny 2 is a mini-reboot for the series, players Destiny 1 achievements are expected to have minimal impact on the events of the new game. While it would have been easy to exclude something like this from the final product, it’s nice to see loyal fans of the first game get some recognition. Destiny 2 is out now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with a PC release scheduled for October 24.

What do you think? Is this a cool way to acknowledge Destiny veterans, or do you feel more could have been carried over from the original game?
