Cyberpunk 2077 Creative Director Leaves To Go Work For Blizzard

Cyberpunk 2077

One title that gamers everywhere are anticipating is CD Projekt RED’s upcoming futuristic RPG based on Mike Pondsmith’s tabletop experience from years ago. While we still don’t know when to expect the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, the studio is hard at work getting it ready.

That said, the creative director for the upcoming game has officially parted ways with CDPR, and has begun to work for Blizzard Entertainment. Per Sebastian Stepien’s LinkedIn profile, via ResetERA, they began their employment as a creative director for Blizzard this month.

Having spent the better part of the past 13 years in Warsaw, Poland with CD Projekt RED, and working on the likes of The Witcher franchise as well as Cyberpunk 2077, Stepien has now taken his talents to Irvine, California, which is surely quite the transition. However, neither of the companies have released any sort of official word regarding the move, nor what Stepien will be working on at Blizzard.

There’s no denying that Blizzard puts a plethora of storytelling into their titles, but where Stepien ends up is simply unknown at this time. There’s a good chance that he could be put on Diablo 4, but Blizzard also has an unannounced project or two that might be a good fit. Until something official is said by any of the involved parties, however, we’ll just have to keep guessing.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, but has no release date at this time. As for how the creative director’s departure will affect the game, we imagine CD Projekt RED will let us know if it has a major impact.
