Square Enix Hosting Dragon Quest XI Switch Livestream

Dragon Quest XI

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age launched to critical and fan acclaim for PC and PlayStation 4. However, Nintendo Switch players have remained in a state of limbo since September. Square Enix delayed the port due to compatibility issues, and fans were forced to wait patiently for further news. It appears their wait might end this weekend.

Square Enix announced that they will host a livestream of Dragon Quest 11 for the Switch on January 25. The live show begins at 9:30 PM in Japan, or 7:30 AM Eastern time. The developer is bringing all of the title’s principle players on board for the event. Directo Takeshi Uchikawa, Producer Hokuto Okamoto, Brand Producer Yosuke Saito, Game Designer Yuji Horii, and voice actors Ami Koshimizu, Emiri Kato, and Mitsuki Saiga will all make appearances this Saturday.

Companies don’t bring that many big names to a stream unless they have something important to announce. All signs point to a release date announcement sometime during the stream.

Dragon Quest XI continues the franchise’s excellent track record in the JRPG genre. With its colorful cast of characters and gorgeously rendered world, it’s a must-play for all JRPG fans. Its strong combat system and high level of replay-ability should easily transfer to the Nintendo Switch. We will keep you updated on a release date when it becomes available.

Haven’t played Dragon Quest XI yet? Here’s Square Enix’s description from the game’s website:

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age follows the perilous journey of a hunted hero who must uncover the mystery of his fate with the aid of a charismatic cast of supporting characters. They embark on a quest taking them across continents and over vast oceans as they learn of an ominous threat facing the world.”
