Listing Reveals Blizzard’s Next Project: An FPS Game Centered Around Vehicles

Blizzard is riding high right now on their hit FPS currently dominating the market, Overwatch. The title that many had low expectations for quickly became a multi-million dollar franchise within its first year of release. Not one to be complacent, the team is already hard at work on their next hit – which turns out, will be another FPS as well!

According to a recent job posting, their upcoming unannounced project will center around vehicles of some sort and a first-person perspective:

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a talented gameplay engineer to help create vehicles and build vehicle handling features in a robust first-person engine for an unannounced project. The ideal candidate has proven experience in vehicle handling, with exposure to other game systems like physics, animation, and cameras. They must have outstanding people skills and a longstanding passion for playing games across multiple genres and platforms.”

The job listing itself is for a Senior Software Engineer and if interested, you can apply right here. Though there is of course the speculation as to whether or not this could potentially tie in to Overwatch itself. Though the game has no single-player mode, it more than makes up for it with the incredibly lore surrounding the heroes and an ever changing roster of events. Could this project be a spin-off for that to satiate players’ want for a single-player campaign? Or could this be something else entirely?

We will definitely be keeping a close eye on anything Blizzard has up their sleeve for the new year. What do you think it is? “Tracer here” in her brand spankin’ new ride – or a new narrative entirely?
