BioWare Writer Confirms His Work on the Newest Dragon Age Game

Dragon Age game

It’s not news that a new Dragon Age game is in the works given that key members of the team have been dropping tid-bits left and right over the past year, nevermind the success that the franchise as a whole received. For fans of all things Thedas (like me, hi!), the confirmation that the work is in-progress is exciting. A new interview with Eurogamer shed some light on what’s happening within the Dragon Age universe.

We have previously reported that Alexis Kennedy was hired as a guest writer for BioWare back in September. Though he couldn’t disclose any further information aside from working on a “significant” amount of content, good ‘ol Mark Darrah, the Dragon Age executive producer, nudged fans into Kennedy’s work with an announcement aimed at him saying “Welcome to Dragon Age.”

Kennedy’s previous work includes a Cultist Simulator project as well as narrative content for Stellaris, a turn-based title for strategy lovers,

There are huge differences between all of that (previous work) and what I’m working on at BioWare, whcih I can now legitimately say is in the Dragon Age franchise, although it has been known for awhile. Notionally it was a secret but, because of who I was working with, everyone who cared knew. And then the day I started, Mark Darrah [executive producer of the Dragon Age franchise] tweeted saying ‘welcome to the Dragon Age franchise’, so I thought, well, I guess that’s official now then.”

With his previous work, Kennedy expressed excitement over getting to dig into the lore of the franchise and work alongside the team for his part of the storyline. Not only that, but it’s lore that has yet to be previously touched on within the game’s franchise – Tevinter, perhaps?

What I can say is I have been given considerable autonomy to work on a storyline bit of lore which is well-segregated from other parts of the game,” Kennedy teases, “which makes a lot of sense with me being remote. And yes, if you’ve seen a lot of my work before you will probably not be surprised by the choice of subject matter. It’s familiar stuff.”

As a huge fan of the BioWare franchise, I can’t wait to see what they come up with. If you want read up on some of my theories about it, heavy with the Trespasser DLC spoilers from Inquisition, you can check out our coverage of Darrah’s teasers from last year.

With Mass Effect Andromeda’s release, and subsequent additions, and the new IP in the works as well – the coming years are going to be a busy one for the multiple BioWare studios.
