Berserk Creator’s Passing Honored By FFXIV Players With ‘Dark Knight’ Tribute

Berserk

Every so often gamers come together to honor those who have passed that have had a large impact on their lives in some way. Whether it’s holding in-game events where players can pay their respects such as an event honoring Bilbo Baggins’ actor Ian Holm in Lord of the Rings Online, developers naming characters or items after dedicated fans that no longer reside in the material plane, and much more, seeing fans showing this display of respect is a beautiful thing. With the recently announced passing of Berserk manga creator Kentaro Miura, Final Fantasy XIV players have taken to the game to honor his unexpected passing with a ‘Dark Knight’ tribute.

It was revealed on May 20th by the official Berserk Twitter account that Kentaro Miura had passed away on May 6th due to acute aortic dissection. The passing of such a legendary mangaka has hit the anime and manga community quite hard. In response, fans playing FFXIV took it upon themselves to pay tribute in their own way by holding a Dark Knight vigil across the various servers within the game. Lines of players equipped with the Dark Knight class lined up wielding Broadswords and other spectacularly large weapons as Berserk’s Guts uses as a way to honor the mangaka who created the fantastic tale.

It’s unclear how the passing of Miura will affect the rest of the Berserk manga, regardless the creator has had a huge impact on the world influencing the likes of anime, video games, and more.
