Batman: Court of Owls Game Rumors Revitalized With Newly Revealed Artwork (GALLERY)
The old will they/won’t they saga of WB Games working on a Batman: Court of Owls-inspired games has officially carried over to the new year, and it’s all thanks to some artwork that may just be the definitive proof we need that a new Batman game is in development by Warner Bros. Montreal. The news comes by way of the folks over on Reddit, who recently discovered that artist Eddie Mendoza, who works for Apple, recently posted 3 images that all depicted the Dark knight engaged in combat against the Talons. Said images can be seen below:
Now, on its own, a talented artist (whose portfolio can be found right here) drawing up some epic shots of Batman vs the Talons “just for fun” isn’t particularly indicative of a Court of Owls video game. However, Mendoza recently removed all three pictures from his portfolio, seemingly without any provocation. So, what does this all mean? Redditor Donna201299 breaks it all down below:
According to the above post, the sudden disappearance of these three pieces in particular is highly suspect. “Just gone entirely from his ArtStation account (where he first posted them) without any evidence they ever existed,” the Redditor said. “Since they weren’t breaking any rules or terms of service that I can see and I don’t see him getting a cease and desist from Warner Bros. over a bunch of drawings that he specifically said WEREN’T official, this is a bit weird. Even more curious, he also apparently works as a freelancer and one of his clients is Warner Bros.”
So, what does this all mean? Well, a good possibility is that Warner Bros. is working on a Court of Owls game that may just be releasing in 2019, and Eddie Mendoza was pinged to create some artwork for them. Despite saying the art was “just for fun,” his history as a freelancer for Warner Bros. combined with the fact that the publisher has been teasing the Court of Owls for quite some time now is pretty damning. As always, nothing beats an official reveal by the publisher, and we hopefully won’t have to wait too long for an official confirmation.
