Baldur’s Gate III Mod Lets You Play As A MIndflayer
The Baldur’s Gate franchise bases itself within Dungeons & Dragons, the tabletop role-playing game system that fans have loved for generations. The latest iteration of the franchise, Baldur’s Gate III, sees the player start out captive of Mindflayers or Illithids where they are implanted with a tadpole of the tentacle faced creatures that will eventually transform the player into a Mindflayer themselves should they not be able to find a way to remove the parasitic being within them. While the player would normally play as a race fighting against becoming a Mindflayer, one mod dares to give fans a chance to become the psionic-powered humanoid monster for themselves.
The mod comes from ShinyHobo on NexusMods and acts as a way to let players become a Mindflayer in the character creation of the game. The concept is simple enough, though players will need to use ShadowChild’s Candor Mod Manager to get the Mindflayer mod working properly in the game. ShinyHobo explains on the mod page that they are working on a new installation method, but for the time being the aforementioned mod manager is going to be the way to get the mod working properly. By following the steps provided players will be able to get things up and running in no time.
Baldur’s Gate III is currently available for PC and Google Stadia as an early access title though no official release date for the full title has been confirmed as of yet. The game currently gives players a chance to play through 2-30 hours of content in early access, though once the title launches in full, save game data will be reset back to zero. That being the case, why not try out a few things like becoming a Mindflayer for yourself?
