Avengers Actor Cast As Tiny Tina In Borderlands Movie

Tiny Tina

Hollywood’s return to major production schedules has noticeably seen an increased interest in adapting video games for the big screen. Sony recently announced their lead actor casting for The Last Of Us HBO series and the sequel to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie will reportedly begin filming soon. Another big gaming-related project has been the live-action Borderlands movie, which has cast big names like Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart for its lead roles. Many have wondered if fan-favorite Borderlands character Tiny Tina might appear in the movie, and now it appears that the beloved character will indeed appear, as her casting choice has been revealed.

Game Informer has shared the new Borderlands movie casting news announced by Lionsgate. The young Ariana Greenblatt will portray Tiny Tina, the young orphaned explosives expert, in the live-action film. Greenblatt is best known for her work as young Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War, and for the infinite amount of “What did it cost?” memes that resulted from that portrayal. She also provided the voice of young Velma in Scoob! last year. Later this year, she will appear in Boss Baby: Family Business and Lin Manuel Miranda’s In The Heights.

Greenblatt joins the already cast Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Kevin Hart as Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Tannis, and Jack Black as the voice of Clap Trap. Tiny Tina first appeared in Borderlands 2, and this film was initially expected to focus on the first Borderlands game’s storyline. It’s possible her character’s debut may be placed earlier in the timeline to please fans. Tina’s explosive energy is a highlight of the series for many fans, and it will be great to see that energy come to life inhabited by a live-action performer. Here’s hoping we get an Assault on Dragon Keep short film eventually too.
