The big PlayStation Showcase is underway and has already unveiled a number of future projects, and the previously unveiled Borderlands spin-off Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands also didn’t disappoint with a few reveals of its own. Offering a decidedly Dungeons & Dragons-esque take on the traditional looter shooter, a new look at gameplay was finally unveiled for the event, highlighting the high-fantasy-inspired setting and the magic-infused clash against the villainous Dragon Lord.

As shown in the trailer below, Wonderlands sports no shortage of wild imagery as unpredictable dungeon master Tiny Tina narrates all the new features coming to the standalone adventure. We get a look at first-person combat, a few fantasy-inspired environments, as well as some sassy and over-the-top monsters to slay. However, arguably the most memorable snippet depicts the game’s tabletop-like overworld, which shrinks down our protagonists into cute little chibi characters. The footage ends with the momentous reveal of a release date: March 22nd, 2022.

In addition to gameplay, Creative Director at Gearbox Software Matt Cox spoke a bit more about customization in a new PlayStation Blog post, teasing more information would be unveiled at a later date. “We’ve built a multiclass system that lets you mix and match six unique character skill trees, all with their own awesome abilities,” Cox said. “You can also customize how your players look and sound. You can do all this solo or party up with up to three friends for four-player co-op.”

“We’re excited for you to find your unique playstyle, discovering how you want to experience the game.”

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands releases March 22nd, 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
