Halo Live-Action Series Trailer Reveals Streaming Release Date (VIDEO)

Halo Live-Action Series

After a significant tease beforehand, the big AFC Championship game yielded an all-new trailer for Paramount Plus’ awaited Halo series, which aims to bring the super-soldier exploits of Spartan John-117, a.k.a. Master Chief, into the live-action medium. While we’ve seen a look at the galactic champion in his signature armor as well as a tone-setting sneak peek, this latest trailer delves much deeper into the alien conflict and finally sees the Halo live-action series welcomed with a release date.

As per the footage below, the Halo series is set to premiere on Paramount Plus on March 24th. However, the preceding trailer is packed with tons of equally memorable fare, featuring the menacing, Energy Sword-laden debut of The Covenant, the first look at Jen Taylor‘s live-action Cortana, as well as the legendary Chief rallying his fellow Spartans into battle. The trailer also marks our first listen of actor Pablo Schreiber and his grizzled vocal take on the character of Master Chief.

After first being announced by Xbox and Steven Speilberg back in 2013, the above trailer finally makes good on nearly a decade of promises to bring the iconic mascot to the silver screen. While featuring no shortage of Easter Eggs to the source material, the adaptation also looks to be filled with plenty of alternate versions of events. As hinted by showrunners well beforehand, the Halo live-action series plans to leave much of the franchises’ lore up to interpretation as part of a new official continuity dubbed the ‘Silver Timeline.’

Halo Series Live-Action

According to Halo franchise Creative Director, Frank O’Connor (via Halo Waypoint), the new Silver Timeline is set to “run parallel” to canon stories like Halo Infinite, but will branch off to create “surprises, differences, and twists” in areas “that make sense for the show.” The decision to “diverge” continuity was made to avoid being “limited” by “the realities” of TV production as well as to take advantage of new “storytelling opportunities” offered by the medium.

“Basically, we want to use the existing Halo lore, history, canon, and characters wherever they make sense for a linear narrative, but also separate the two distinctly so that we don’t invalidate the core canon or do unnatural things to force a first-person video game into an ensemble TV show,” O’Connor explained. “The game canon and its extended lore in novels, comics, and other outlets is core, original, and will continue unbroken for as long as we make Halo games.”

“To be clear: these will be two parallel, VERY similar, but ultimately separate timelines whose main events and characters will intersect and align throughout their very different cadences.”
