Pokémon Go Announces "Gen 4" Pokémon Coming Soon

Pokémon GO is well into its third year of existence, and the mobile gaming phenomenon continues to find ways to surprise its players and keep them coming back for more adventures. After a long wait, the game finally added trading functionality earlier this year, and the inclusion of a new Pokémon recently left players baffled at its mystery. The game has also shown itself interested in growing by adding both the second and third generations of Pokémon to the game since its release, not to mention many Alolan Pokémon forms. Now, Niantic has confirmed that Fourth Generation Pokemon are soon coming to the game.

Niantic has uploaded a new video to their official Pokémon GO Twitter account that accompanies the news. The video depicts several different nature scenes, with obscured looks at famous Fourth Generation Pokemon. We see hints at the starter Sinnoh region starter Pokémon, including the silhouette of Chimchar, the leaves on Turtwig’s head and Piplup’s footprints in the snow. The trailer also shows with the glowing red eyes of Giratina staring at the camera menacingly as a stinger.

These Pokémon were first introduced in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, but this will likely breathe new life into the generation’s inclusions. There’s no word yet on when the Sinnoh region Pokemon will be added to the game, but it would not be unlikely for them to added before the end of the year. Pokémon GO continues to be one of the most popular mobile games out there, and it shows no sign of slowing. Hopefully, adding Turtwig won’t slow the game down to a turtle-like crawl.
