Rockstar Games Apology Issued For GTA Remastered Trilogy Launch

2021 has seen a big trend towards the re-release and remastering of past video games, with one of the most rumored and anticipated of these being the Grand Theft Auto remastered trilogy. Fans had been longing to play the PlayStation 2-era GTA games with modern graphics and refinements. However, the launch of the game had not quite gone as planned. Rockstar Games had issues with their PC launcher, and with all previous versions of the classic games removed from digital stores, the games were essentially made unplayable on PC. This falls on top of various technical glitches and unintended files present with the console versions of the remasters. Now, a Rockstar Games apology has been issued, addressing the current state of the collection.

Grand Theft Auto Remastered Trilogy

Rockstar Games’ apology regarding the GTA remastered trilogy was listed on their official website, acknowledging the various issues that have befallen the remastered games. Rockstar Games admitted the remastered trilogy meets neither the standard of quality that their audience expects from the publisher, nor of the developer themselves. As such, they have resolved to immediately address the technical issues affecting the games, saying:

“We have ongoing plans to address the technical issues and to improve each game going forward. With each planned update, the games will reach the level of quality that they deserve to be. A new Title Update is on the way in the coming days for all versions of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition that will address a number of issues. We will update everyone as soon as it is live.”

Another interesting detail about Rockstar Games’ apology was that it confirmed the previous versions of the classic GTA games that were removed from digital stores just before the remasters launched will be returning to digital stores until June 30th next year. As a bonus, PC users who bought the new collection on the Rockstar Launcher version will be gifted the classic versions of each title. Rockstar has also asked gamers online to not harass members of their development team, as it affects their mental well-being, not to mention that it is an unneeded distraction that hinders the games’ needed fixes. It’s good to see that Rockstar is addressing these issues and making concessions to make up for their missteps. Hopefully, soon the remasters are properly fixed so the nostalgia trips can be properly felt.
