Warframe Will Be Getting Hoverboards In The Next Update
Tennocon was just in session, a single action-packed day of festivities and a tenno-fun for fans! Digital Extremes continues to make Warframe a mainstay in the gaming market with regular updates of new warframes, cosmetic items, and events. Without a doubt, Tennocon is a convention for the true fans out there looking to celebrate the game with other community members. The day-long event took place this weekend, and there was plenty of news to be had, including a neat little addition in the next coming expansion for the game. Hoverboards.
Well, they’re called Bondi K-Drives, but they’re hoverboards with a Warframe twist and they look like a whole lot of fun. As seen in the gif above, there was a gameplay showcase of a couple players zipping to their next destination on the new transport gear. And nope, your eyes aren’t fooling you – players can even perform neat tricks, spins, and flips on them as well.
During Tennocon 2018, Digital Extremes revealed the game’s next expansion titled Fortuna. Arriving later this year, Fortuna will introduce loads of new features including the K Drive hoverboards. Opposed to the default Archwing, this swift modes of transport allows for zero offensive capabilities, but they’re an exciting new way to get from point A to point B. As a matter of fact, players can bounce off the head of enemies and other objects standing in the way.
According to Warframe creative director, Steve Sinclair, the inability to fire or use weapons on the K-Drives is still a matter up for debate and the team is currently weighing out the pros and cons. The good news is these bad boys will feature extensive customization options akin to every other aspect of the game. There will be different types of K-Drives, cosmetic changes to show some style, and other items to make it stand out.
Loads of other new features will arrive alongside the Fortuna update coming later this year. What do you think of the addition of hoverboards?
