The Uncharted Movie Starring Tom Holland Will Start Filming "Soon"

It looks like the Uncharted movie adaptation is just about ready to begin filming. While the film’s production was delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the movie’s release date was pushed up by Sony a few months ago, with the company’s Spider-Man films being pushed back as a result. Now, with a new release date of July 16th, 2021, filming for the Uncharted movie appears to be just about ready to begin.

The news partially comes by way of Tom Holland, who will be playing the part of a young Nathan Drake in the upcoming movie. Holland recently took to Instagram to show off a snap of his cast chair while captioning the post with “day one.” So, essentially, the Spider-Man star is on set and ready to work.

This isn’t quite the end of the story, though. Tom Holland has seemingly jumped the gun – as usual – as the Uncharted movie hasn’t quite begun filming yet,  despite the above caption. The update comes from Sony Pictures Entertainment, who recently sent an email to GamesRadar clarifying that shooting for the film has yet to begun, though the crew is prepping and they are “hoping to start [shooting] soon,” which is impressive in itself given the tumultuous history of the film so far. Still, it looks like things are finally proceeding as planned, so unless some cataclysmic event happens – knock on wood – the Uncharted movie will likely keep its release date of July 16, 2021.
