Uncharted Creator Helming Newly Announced Star Wars Game

Uncharted Creator

The video game industry has commonly seen licensed video games based on pre-existing properties, with one of the most notoriously licensed for video games being Star Wars. The galaxy from far, far away has seen so many types of video games adapted, embodying everything from racing games to multiplayer shooter games. The biggest games in the industry require visionary leaders, such Amy Hennig, who helped bring Jak and Daxter and Uncharted to life. After spending years at Naughty Dog, Hennig left to lead a new studio, Skydance New Media. Now, the Uncharted creator has been tapped to helm a newly announced Star Wars game.

Lucasfilm Games made the announcement of the new game by the Uncharted creator Amy Hennig on the official Star Wars website. Skydance New Media, the new studio led by Hennig is working with Lucasfilm Games on a new game set in the Star Wars universe. Star Wars had a big impact on Hennig, who says the first film in 1977 rewired her brain and shaped her creative life. In regards to the partnership with Skydance, here’s what Lucasfilm Games Vice President Douglas Reilly had to say about the project:

We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working again with Amy. She and the Skydance New Media team have the talent and ambition to create a unique Star Wars adventure. Their vision for making narrative driven and engaging interactive entertainment makes this collaboration very exciting. We’re working hard with their team of experienced and talented developers, and we’re looking forward to sharing more with Star Wars fans when the time is right.”

This is now the second big project being undertaken by Skydance, as they had already made a deal to develop a new game with Marvel Entertainment, a sister division to Lucasfilm Games under the Walt Disney Company. It is not yet known what part of the Star Wars universe that this game will take place in, but given the Uncharted creator’s history, it will have a rich, character-focused narrative. Hennig and Skydance have their work cut out for them, but they seem like capable hands to handle the universe at lightspeed pace.
