Uncharted Movie Delayed Again Due To Coronavirus Pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic continues to greatly impact society, as numerous nations issues quarantines to help prevent mass fatalities from the disease. As such, this has halted big events like E3 2020 and GDC 2020, and even caused GameStop to close their stores to customer traffic. The film industry has also been noticeably affected, as movie theaters everywhere have closed, and major films like the upcoming Black Widow and Wonder Woman 1984 films have pushed their release dates to much later in the year. Well, it looks like upcoming video game adaptation movies have been affected, as the new Uncharted movie release date has been pushed up to 2021.

As reported on Prima Games, Sony has confirmed that they will be once again delaying production on the Uncharted movie. The Uncharted movie release date has now been pushed all the way up to October 8, 2021, after it was previously set for March 5th of next year. This follows roughly a decade of production setbacks that have delayed the film’s release, although these previous delays were mostly due to creative issues and departures from the film’s directors, writers and actors. With production halted, it is not yet known how soon after the lifting of quarantine mandates that production for the film will resume.

Sony has also announced that their upcoming Morbius, Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Peter Rabbit 2 films will also postpone their releases to dates in the first quarter of 2021 as well. The Uncharted film is still slated to star Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg and the recently cast Antonio Banderas. While the Uncharted film is delayed once more, at least fans can rest knowing that the film still holds onto the mossy vines of life after narrowly escaping the pit of development hell once more.
