Total War: Shogun 2 Will Be Free To Own For A Limited Time
While the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has undoubtedly had some unfortunate effects on the gaming industry, most gamers have at the very least been enjoying their time at home with a fairly steady drip of free games. Earlier this month, Sony announced its Play at Home initiative, offering PS4 owners the chance to snag Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey for free. Last week, Capcom joined in on the fun by announcing that Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 is also available for free. Now, the folks over at Sega have joined the fray, as it has been revealed that Total War: Shogun 2 is going free-to-own for a limited time.
Sega recently took to Twitter to announce that Creative Assembly’s Total War: Shogun 2 will be free to own on Steam between Monday April 27th and Friday, May 1st. This is part of the company’s Total War sale, which kicks off at the same time and runs through until Monday May 4th.
It’s a difficult time right now, so to help stave off boredom while you’re stuck at home, we’re giving away SHOGUN 2 for you to keep forever! #StayHomeSaveLives

It should be noted that the free Total War: Shogun 2 game does not come with its optional DLC packs. That said, once the promotional period for the free game is over, it will be added to the Total War sale at 75% off, so there’s a narrow window between May 1st and May 4th that will end up being an ideal time to purchase the DLC, for those interested.
