The Witcher Tales Won’t Be Getting A Sequel, Says Developer (VIDEO)
The Witcher 3 was a wonder of storytelling and adventure through a land filled with monsters, war, and magic. The franchise itself has branched off into multiple different titles ranging from card games such as the popular Gwent strategy card game and other media such as the upcoming Netflix adaption of the series. However, It hasn’t all been sunshine and roses for the franchise, as Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales didn’t quite live up to expectations. Fans who might be hoping to see some sort of second chance for the underdog will be disappointed to learn that the future of the narrative-driven card game is a rather bleak one.
The developers recently opened themselves up for a Q&A while discussing Gwent: The Witcher Card Game’s roadmap update. When asked whether or not fans could expect a new The Witcher Tales title, Gwent Game Director Jason Slama briefly stated that there were no plans for making a sequel to the title. It’s a little disappointing to hear the developers won’t be turning any attention to the title as it did have an interesting storyline while sharing similar mechanics to Gwent. Still, with the developers shifting a majority of their attention to the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 title it makes sense that their games with less popularity would get less attention from developers as time goes on.
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is currently available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
