I cannot personally say enough good things about The Legend of Dragoon and it appears there are many folks out there with similar thinking, as a group of like-minded people have come together to launch a petition asking Sony to create an official remake for the PlayStation 1 classic RPG. Released a few days and 20 years ago in Japan, The Legend of Dragoon unfortunately made its debut towards the end of the development cycle for the PS1, and as such it didn’t get the attention it deserved. Now, this new petition is seeking to right that wrong by requesting that a remake be created for release on the PlayStation 5.

The petition in question is now live and, at the time of writing, has garnered over 8,000 signatures since earlier this month. One impressive highlight of the petition is its accompanying video, which features an excellent voiceover done in the style of the history CGI videos found within the game. Check it out here:

A Legend of Dragoon remake is certainly within the realm of possibility. Shadow of the Colossus remake dev Bluepoint Games has recently been teasing its next remake project, and one of the game references given suggested that it could actually be a remake for Legend of Dragoon. Whatever the remake will be, it will apparently be the studio’s “greatest achievement yet,” so the folks that are signing this petition have plenty to be excited for if this ends up being the case. Here’s hoping that we get an official confirmation sooner rather than later.
