The Witcher Showrunner Would Love To Cast Mark Hamill As Vesemir
There have been plenty of fan-made casting predictions for Netflix’s The Witcher series, none of which have been nearly as prolific as the possibility of casting Mark Hamill as the character Vesemir. The outcries began back in early 2018, with Mark Hamill himself saying that he’d love to take on the role despite not knowing what the actual role was about. Still, the fans weren’t worried too much about the little details, and almost two years later Hamill confirmed that he was still down to play as Vesemir. Now, it appears that we have some interest on the Netflix side of things, as The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has also expressed interest in getting Mark Hamill to don the mantle of a witcher.
In a recent interview with the folks over at IGN, Lauren S. Hissrich admitted that she’s a “huge Star Wars fan” so it was very exciting when she heard about Mark Hamil’s interest in the role. It was one of those first Witcher moments for me where I was like, ‘oh my God, is this even possible? That Mark Hamill knows what this is and would be interested in doing that?'”Hissrich goes on to say that she has always been interested in pursuing Hamill for a role in the series, though the timing isn’t quite right yet. “Mark has always been of interest to me and interest to the project,” she revealed.
We have not contacted his agent yet because we’re not casting the role quite yet, but that being said, I am loving what’s happening on the internet. And I’m loving all of the fan reaction to it. Obviously, we’ve seen what a huge fanbase The Witcher has, and to add that to a Star Wars fanbase… it makes my mind explode a little bit.”
Even if the team doesn’t nab Mark Hamill for the second season of The Witcher, that doesn’t mean that it won’t ever happen. After all, the showrunner has a total of seven or so seasons planned out, so there’s plenty of time to see Mark Hamill as Vesemir showing little Geralt the ropes.
The first season of The Witcher is now available on Netflix.
