The success of Netflix’s The Witcher series has effectively kicked off its own cinematic universe on the popular streaming platform, with spinoff titles such as the live-action prequel series Blood Origin and the animated film Nightmare of the Wolf in development and slated to release at some point in the future. Now, it’s been revealed that Netflix is also considering another The Witcher series that could focus on Mages.

The info comes by way of well known Witcher info site Redanian Intelligence, which reported that Netflix is seemingly considering a spinoff series that would focus on the Witcher world’s witches/sorceresses. The site’s source claims that while Netflix is only “considering” a spinoff at this time, it would certainly do much to offer some world building and perhaps expand what we know about the convergence of the spheres.

Given what we know about Mages in The Witcher and how they were portrayed in Season one of the series, a spinoff focused on the more ‘chaos inclined’ has the potential to be more political in nature, leaning more towards Game of Thrones than what we’ve seen thus far from the Netflix series. Still, if any team can make it work it’ll be one led by showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich.
