The Last Of Us TV Series Will Closely Follow The Game And Familiar Characters
The world of live-action video game adaptations has absolutely been blowing up lately. The Sonic the Hedgehog movie recently became the highest opening for a video game movie adaptation, and The Witcher became one of the most watching streaming shows in the industry on Netflix last year. Recently, Naughty Dog shocked gamers with the confirmation that there was a live action Last of Us TV series in the works for HBO. However, given that The Witcher on Netflix opted to adapt more from The Witcher novels rather than the games, many have wondered if The Last of Us might stray from the games. It would seem now that this will not be the case.
And now you have Ellie, Riley, Tess, Marlene, Maria, ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️, and a few others! ? https://t.co/GMozU0TaZE

Series creator Neil Druckmann recently released a new tweet from his official Twitter account that brings up the new Last of Us TV series. Druckmann shared a tweet made by the official HBO Twitter account that celebrated its numerous female characters from the service’s original series, in honor of International Women’s Day. To which, Druckmann responded with the names of female characters from The Last of Us, including Ellie, Tess, Riley, Maria and Marlene.
The mentioning of these specific characters would seem to indicate that the show would plan on following the games story closely. It was known that Ellie would be in the series, but Marlene’s mentioning would also imply that the Fireflies would also be present in the series. The confirmation of Tess would also lead many to believe that the Left Behind storyline would also be explored to some extent, as Tess played a crucial role in it. Time well tell to see if any deviations from the games occur in The Last of Us TV series, but for now this perilous journey seems to be following a charted map.
