The Elder Scrolls VI Receives Fan Petition To Make ‘Skyrim Grandma’ An NPC
The Gaming Grandma/ Skyrim Grandma, also known as Shirley Curry, is an 81 year old gamer who even has her own (very successful) YouTube channel. Showing up on the scene back in 2015 featuring videos primarily from the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Curry has become a treasure within the gaming community. In order to show appreciation for her love of the game and the Skyrim Grandma herself, fans are hoping to find a way to put her into the Elder Scrolls VI as an NPC.
The Elder Scrolls VI was teased this year at E3 alongside Starfield, however it will be a long time before the game finally emerges as a playable title. This means that the Gaming Grandma might not be able to play the new game as she mentions on a video concerning the game’s release date.
Well, I guess that puts the nail in my coffin, literally!!! When Skyrim 6 comes out I’ll be 88!! So I probably won’t get to play it, so I’m going to quit dreaming for it!!! 🙁
It’s a sad prospect that one so well loved within the Elder Scrolls community might not be able to play the upcoming title, however supporters who caught wind of the comment have stepped up to try and do something about it. While they might not be able to make the game’s development process speed up at all, there are plenty of things that can be done to commemorate the elderly gamer.
A Reddit thread that was posted concerning the comment quickly grew with support for Curry ranging with a variety of ideas such as letting her play the game early, or even turning the Grandma Gamer into a NPC. Many are hoping it would work similarly to how they approached the Erik the Slayer from Rorikstead, who was created to commemorate a knowledgeable gamer by the name of Eric West who fell to cancer before the game’s release. With the precedent of placing fans throughout their works, it’s possible the same thing could be done for the Gaming Grandma whose love for the series is shown throughout her videos.
There still isn’t much known about the Elder Scrolls VI, though some believe they’ve discovered just where the upcoming title will take place.
