Stranger Things 4 Trailer Reveals New Villain (VIDEO)

Stranger Things 4 trailer

The streaming service wars have only escalated in recent years, with the major media companies heavily relying on them to house their most popular and most production-heavy projects outside of theatrical releases. While newer platforms like Disney Plus and HBO Max have hit originals of their own, Netflix has had major original series that have lasted for years before they came along. One of the biggest of these has been Stranger Things at Netflix, which so far has only provided brief teasers previewing the new and returning settings for the new season. Now, a Stranger Things 4 trailer reveals a new villain the Hawkins gang must face.

Netflix has released the Stranger Things 4 trailer on their official YouTube channel for the series. The trailer provides more detailed looks at the season’s confirmed locations and character groupings, with a confirmed-alive Hopper imprisoned in Russia, the Byers and Eleven now living in California, and the rest of the crew staying back in Hawkins, Indiana. Greater focus is also given towards Max, who narrates the trailer as her thoughts sent to her deceased brother Billy. She is seen visioning a grandfather clock from the Creel House (which will play a major part of the Hawkins storyline this season) and other supernatural effects allowing her to do something unexpected in one shot.

More narration is also given from the return of Paul Reiser’s Dr. Owens, who visits Eleven after apparently helping her and the Byers relocate to protect them from the supernatural dangers of Hawkins. It seems that he needs her help against the dark forces from the Upside Down, though she confirms with him that her powers aren’t working, which was first seen at the end of Stranger Things 3. Flashback scenes also show a digitally de-aged Eleven in her time at the Hawkins laboratory when she first developed her powers. All of these quick scenes and an ominous unknown narrator heard throughout the trailer build up to a reveal at the end of the trailer, with what appears to be a demagorgon/human hybrid that is implied to have human speech. This is likely the new main villain for the series and could pose the biggest threat yet for Eleven and friends. Hopefully more is revealed when Stranger Things 4 Part One premieres on May 27th this year, and Part Two on July 1st.
