Steam Is Reportedly Working On A Loyalty System
Valve’s PC platform, Steam, may be getting a new core feature at some point in the near future. While Steam as a whole hasn’t changed much save for the recent library redesign, a new rumor suggests that the platform will be getting its own loyalty system soon, providing users with some extra incentives while they play their favorite games.
The news comes by way of IGN, which reported on some information that SteamDB figure Pavel Djundik recently aired out on Twitter. According to Djundik, the loyalty system will feature earn-able points that can be spent on badge levels and reaction icons for user reviews. Djundik also suggests that there will be certain “reward items,” as well as the potential for actual game discounts.
Valve is working on loyalty awards/rewards. It has a point system, and a system to add reactions to user reviews.
Also includes reward items, redeeming points for badge levels, and possiblity game discounts.

Following Pavel Djundik’s initial statement, he then released a screenshot showing off the names of what are likely the reactions Steam users can leave on user reviews. Said reactions are deep thoughts, heartwarming, hilarious, hot take, poetry, and helpful.

Rumors should always be taken with a grain of salt, though Djundik is admittedly a more reliable source than the usual rumor mill fodder. Given that SteamDB tends to be an outlet for early game reveals, chances are Steam’s new loyalty system won’t remain a secret for much longer.
