Star Wars: The Old Republic Now Available On Steam

Star Wars The Old Republic

Following up on BioWare’s Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars: The Old Republic has since launched as an MMORPG offering players to follow their own adventure set in the familiar, but ancient galaxy far, far, away. Since launching back in 2011, the game has allowed players to play through a gameplay-based narrative, inhabiting the role of a number of different classes and races from around the Star Wars universe. While The Old Republic was previously available through Electronic Arts’ PC-focused service Origin, the game has now also made its grand debut on Steam.

The addition of SWTOR to the Valve platform (H/T Prima Games) was revealed alongside a developer blog post, which detailed many of the features included with the new PC release. Not only is the Steam version confirmed to feature full cross-play and cross-save capabilities, but the release also includes many other goodies familiar to the platform such as character-based trading cards, custom emoticons, as well as user profile backgrounds. The Steam release is also confirmed to have “over 100 achievements,” with achievements earned in other versions of the game carrying over in an update set to go live “later this year.”

This new release of Star Wars: The Old Republic is just the latest from Steam’s partnership with Steam, which started sparse in the beginning, but has been especially fruitful over the last few months. In addition to long-absent fan-favorites like Need For Speed Most Wanted, Titanfall 2, and The Sims 4, the deal has also added the likes of several BioWare titles such as Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Mass Effect 3 alongside each game’s plentiful DLC. With EA Access releasing on the platform sometime soon, even more games are also set to join the platform in the future, including popular battle royale shooter Apex Legends.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is available now on PC.
