Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic II Getting Mobile Release (VIDEO)

Star Wars

The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic franchise has been around since 2003 when the first iteration in the series first launched on the original Xbox. Over time the BioWare-developed game released on PC and more recently even launched on mobile devices in 2013 and 2014. Further still, it’s been over 16 years since the franchise sequel, Knights of the Old Republic II – Sith Lords first released but the follow-up still has yet to make an appearance on mobile devices. Soon, however, that will change with the title set to make its way to both Android and iOS devices later this week.

A new trailer recently arrived teasing the return of the iconic sequel in all its glory, keeping the original look and feel of the game alive, albeit with optimization for mobile devices. The title is being brought back to life with developer Aspyr Media, with full touch screen controls built into the game itself. Arriving on December 18th, Knights of the Old Republic II will be available on either Google Play or through the Apple store  for $14.99 USD and can be pre-ordered now for players excited to make a mobile return to the franchise.

In the Star Wars timeline, Knights of the Old Republic II is set 4000 years before the events of Episode I: The Phantom Menace and the game tells the tale of an exiled Jedi and their journey to restore their connection to the Force, whether by following the Light and helping the Republic or hindering its efforts to bring peace and balance as a follower of the Dark Side. The title’s place in Disney’s new Star Wars continuity has been a mystery in recent years, but a surprising 2019 reference may have definitively put the KOTOR games back on the map.

The release of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords is set to arrive on both Android and iOS on December 18th. The iconic title isn’t the only one to get recognition, either as the highly-praised Season 2 of The Mandalorian also recently featured an easter egg from the first game in the series.
