Splitgate Adding Forge Mode “Before Halo” In Cheeky New Announcement

Splitgate

Splitgate is quite fun, harkening back to the classic style of gameplay that the Halo franchise has provided for years with the added twist of Portal-like mechanics. With the apparent similarities that the title has with the Halo franchise, it makes sense that the title is looking to bring a Forge mode to its lineup of content. Even better, the developers claim they’re going to be bringing this Forge mode to the game before Halo Infinite gets its own version of the level building mode.

In response to a recent Tweet from KFC Gaming about phrases that would “trigger an entire gaming fanbase,” however, it seems Splitgate is looking to start some beef with Halo fans, claiming that the game will have a Forge mode before Halo Infinite. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Forge would be missing from Infinite at launch, with the mode arriving several months later as an official update. With this in mind, 1047 Games has the advantage of having a more concrete release window to make claims of being “first.”

Splitgate is defined by its Halo-style combat but with the ability to open up portals similar to the experience fans may have had in Valve’s reality-shifting Portal games. It adds a unique flavor to the first-person shooter experience and has done quite well as an open beta/early access title. While announced, the developers didn’t mention when they planned to release their version of Forge, but barring any significant delays, perhaps they really will bring the mode to the world before Halo Infinite does. Still, them’s is fightin’ words without a doubt.

Splitgate is currently available for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. What are you going to create with the Forge mode? Perhaps some classic Halo maps would fit well into the fabric of the Splitgate gameplay. A modified version of the iconic Chiron TL-34 map would make for an interesting experience, as it already had a wild number of teleporters.
