Splinter Cell Creative Director Reportedly Returning To Ubisoft

Splinter Cell

Sam Fisher and the Splinter Cell franchise have been out of action for quite a long time, though rumors and leaks have hinted at the possibility of a new title arriving at some point in the future. Ubisoft’s shift into more and more open-world shooters has left the traditionally more linear franchise by the wayside, though that may not be the case forever. Recent news has arrived stating that a former creative director for the series is going to be returning to Ubisoft in a new role.

Maxime Beland worked for Ubisoft for a whole 20 years before leaving the company back in 2019 to work for Epic Games. A recent report from VGC claims that the figure is going to be moving back to the company as the vice president of the company’s restructured editorial team just a year after his move to Epic Games. The restructure was seemingly needed after the less than stellar numbers for Ubisoft’s 2019 sales of Ghost Recon Breakpoint and The Division 2, which gave cause to delay future titles such as the upcoming Watch Dogs Legion and Rainbow Six Quarantine.

Splinter Cell

There have been plenty of leaks over the years concerning the Splinter Cell franchise, such as last year’s GameStop leak. The news of Beland’s return isn’t necessarily a sure sign that the developers are going to be coming out with a Splinter Cell title anytime soon, but it sure is nice to dream about.

What would you be most excited about if the stealth-action franchise saw a return? Would you like to see a Michael Ironside return as the voice of Sam Fisher?
