Rocket League Reveals New Heatseeker Mode Coming Soon (VIDEO)

Developer Psyonix is continuing to offer up plenty of exciting, limited-time game modes for its popular ‘soccer with cars’ game Rocket League. While more often than not Rocket League game modes tend to be pretty hectic, the newly revealed ‘Heatseeker Mode’ will be limited to 3v3 engagements, making it a bit more intimate of an engagement.

According to Psyonix, the new Heatseeker Mode will kick off on April 16, featuring a ball that “automatically seeks the net and every hit increases its speed.” What’s the worst that could happen? Check out the reveal trailer for the new mode below:

“In Heatseeker, the ball will automatically seek the opposing net once it’s hit,” Psyonix explains. “But, make sure you don’t miss the goal! If the ball hits the backboard, it will fire back toward your goal. Make sure to think fast, because every time the ball is touched by a player or a backboard, it gains speed! First team to seven goals wins.”

Even if the new mode isn’t really your shtick, you can still snag a free Hypnoteks Player Banner’ reward simply by launching the game anytime during the 5-day period during the event. Here are the event start and end times:

  • Heatseeker Starts: Thursday, April 16 at 9 a.m. PDT (4 p.m. UTC)

  • Heatseeker Ends: Monday, April 20 at 9 a.m. PDT (4 p.m. UTC)

Rocket League is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
