Resident Evil Dev Responds To Project Resistance Criticism

Ever since a few images for Project Resistance leaked earlier this year, Resident Evil fans began to draw parallels between Capcom’s iconic series and what had begun to be expected out of the developer’s interestingly titled project. Many – myself included – likened Project Resistance to your typical Left 4 Dead-style co-op survival horror title, and I wasn’t too far off, with the only puzzle piece missing being the super-powered “vs 1” component tacked onto the end, making the game out to be a bit more like Predator: Hunting Grounds. Unfortunately, what the new game represents has been causing some division within the community. Now, Capcom has responded to the recent bat of criticism leveled against Project Resistance.

Capcom producer Matt Walker recently took to Twitter to respond to some of the criticisms leveled against Project Resistance. Said criticisms are chiefly due to the game seemingly pivoting away from what fans can typically expect from a Resident Evil game. “Been seeing a lot of people who are not pleased with the idea that we’re making Project Resistance,” Walker began. “It’s totally valid that people want more of that quality core experience offered in RE2 and RE7.”

My take- we as a company need to continue to brand out and try to offer up new gameplay in addition to refining the experiences people expect from us. If we just continue to offer up the same thing over and over again, people will gradually lose interest with what we’re making. Project Resistance offers up a really interesting way to do that.”

Walker finished his statement by saying that he is looking forward to when people will be able to get their hands on the closed beta, and that will consistent feedback the game will begin to positively grow and change. Project Resistance is now in development.
