Resident Evil 3’s Jill Valentine Confirmed For RE: Resistance (VIDEO)

Resident Evil 3 Jill Valentine

With a fabulous playable demo out in the wild and only days remaining before the new Resident Evil 3 remake hits stores, fans are likely foaming at the mouth to test their mettle against the likes of the walking nightmare Nemesis. However, players will also have a more direct means to battle monstrous foes in the game’s multiplayer component Resident Evil: Resistance, presenting a 4v1 co-op experience laden with zombies, lickers, and the always gon-give-it-to-ya Mr. X. Up until now, it was unknown whether the main game’s protagonist of Jill Valentine might also be part of Resistance, but a new trailer has now confirmed this will indeed be the case.

Revealed in a new trailer, Jill was announced as a playable addition to the game, with the character officially joining the roster of Survivors sometime after the day of launch. The video also offered an extended peek at Jill’s story in RE3 as she attempts to rescue inhabitants from the undead of Raccoon City. “Jill Valentine’s escape from Raccoon City is fraught with danger, but she still has some dependable allies to rely on… as well as some enemies to watch out for,” reads the announcement. “Jill won’t just be the star of Resident Evil 3, though – she’ll also be added as a playable Survivor in Resident Evil Resistance in a future update.”

The addition of Jill Valentine to Resident Evil: Resistance is an intriguing one as it suggests any number of characters from the RE series could eventually get their due in the game. The likes of Leon and Claire from the RE2 remake would be a shoo-in for the mode and favorites such as Chris Redfield and Ada Wong could easily fit into the team-based premise as well. There’s no word on whether RE3 antagonist Nemesis is coming to the mode, but it’s definitely possible considering the monster tends to follow Jill literally everywhere she goes. Of course, this would only be speculation at the end of the day.

Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil Resistance release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 3rd.

What do you think? Are you excited to see a familiar face join RE: Resistance, or will you only be impressed when Nemesis joins the mode as well?
