Resident Evil 3 Is Nearly Complete, Will Be More Action-Oriented
While not a complete surprise ahead of time, the reveal of Resident Evil 3 has certainly left an impression on fans with its stunningly reimagined visuals and excellent horror atmosphere. While it’ll be a few months before the public will get to play through the long-rumored remake, details are still coming out at a regular pace. Capcom recently divulged a slew of new information regarding the RE2 follow-up with Famitsu (via Siliconera).
In a recent interview with the Japanese publication, Resident Evil 3 producers Peter Fabiano and Masao Kawada spoke on a number of topics, including the project’s progress as well as how it will ultimately differ from the original game and this year’s RE2 remake. As it stands, RE3 appears to be approaching the end of development rather shortly, with 90% of the game confirmed to be complete and only final adjustments left to be done. With little left on their plate, it’s said that the game will likely see no delays ahead of its planned April release.

Fans will also be in for a number of alterations in the new Resident Evil 3, the producers confirming many elements will be different than portrayed in the original game. The most obvious overhaul is found in the new Jill Valentine and Carlos, characters designed with the notion of being more “action-oriented,” while still keeping with each characters’ personality. This change, however, is meant to be reflective of RE3’s gameplay, the title considered more action-packed than the survival-focused RE2 remake. Of course, that’s not to say scares won’t be featured, as the producers assure it will definitely retain many of the series’ classic creepy elements.
With the upcoming release of Resident Evil 3 on the horizon, Capcom has shown little signs of slowing down their output of core franchises, something that is all-but-assured to continue in the coming years. Alongside big names like Devil May Cry and Monster Hunter, more long-dormant IPs are being considered by the publisher, with many classic franchises speculated to get their second wind on current or even next-generation hardware.
Resident Evil 3 releases on April 3rd, 2020 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox One.
