Resident Evil 2 Collector’s Edition And More Revealed At Comic-Con

Resident Evil 2

Capcom surprised many fans at this year’s E3 event with the wonderful footage of the Resident Evil 2 remake. Since the announcement, many have been hoping to see more information about the new version of the game’s release, and it looks like the developer has opted to take advantage of the San Diego Comic-Con spotlight to divulge new details. Capcom has now announced a Resident Evil 2 Collector’s Edition, and has provided more details about the game.

As detailed on the official PlayStation blog, Capcom confirmed that a Resident Evil 2 Collector’s Edition will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at the game’s launch for $200. Like many collector’s editions nowadays, this one will include both physical and digital goodies in addition to a physical copy of the game. Some of the bonus items will only be given to those who pre-order the game, which North American fans can do now through Gamestop’s website.

    • Claire: “Elza Walker”

  • A 32-page book left behind by Ben Bertolucci, a freelance journalist who makes an appearance in Resident Evil 2. This file contains photos and files documenting events after the Raccoon City tragedy, and was filed away as a highly confidential document by the U.S. government. It’s never been seen by the public… until now.
  • A voucher code for a 25-track album featuring new songs from the remake of Resident Evil 2, as well as a selection of arrangements from the original game.
  • A diagram reminiscent of blueprints, this poster illustrates how the building was renovated and transformed from a museum to a police facility when work was being done on the building in 1969.

At Comic-Con today, Capcom also released the official box art of the Resident Evil 2 remake, and provided comments on the updated looks for Leon, Claire and Raccoon City itself. They seem to be taking full advantage of the greater graphical abilities that the current generation can do to breathe new life into the classic game. Hopefully the final version only adds to the positive perception of the game’s legacy. What do you guys think about the Resident Evil 2 Collector’s Edition? Let us know in the comments below!
