Release Date for ‘Emily is Away Too’ Revealed with Nostalgic Trailer – Fire up AIM (VIDEO)

Kyle Seeley created Emily is Away, an indie visual novel, and it was released in November of 2015. The game was set in the early 2000s and is about the protagonist’s 5 year relationship with a girl named Emily. It’s shown through a chat client on Windows XP that is styled after AOL Instant Messenger and ICQ and the game makes us very nostalgic for the good ol’ days of Avril Lavigne and blink-182. Now there will be a  sequel named Emily is Away Too and according to this gameplay trailer, it will be released in May of this year.

Like the first, Emily is Away Too will have the same decision-based branching narrative, but there will be some new goodies too. The game takes place a few years after the first when social media is just starting to take off. Seeley says that this game will be 8 times bigger than the first and will now include hyperlinks that will allow you to go beyond the IM chat window, file transfers that go directly to your desktop, and numerous ending possibilities.

Emily is away Too will be available on Itch and Steam, but you can play the first for free here. Does this trailer make you nostalgic? Did you ever play the first game? Do you plan to play this one?
