While the video game industry doesn’t have as many recognizable figures as other mediums like film or music, it does have many well-known figures. One of the biggest names known in the gaming industry is Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox Software. Pitchford has made serious claims about his employees embezzling before, but now that heat seems to be on him. Recently, the gaming industry was stunned to hear that former Gearbox counsel Wade Callender made claims that Pitchford had embezzled millions from Gearbox, as well as exploited minors at “adult parties” and possessing a collection of child pornography. Now, Randy Pitchford has responded to the serious accusations directly.

As a father, I find crimes against children to be especially repugnant. It is very painful that a former friend and colleague would lie to try to associate me with such vile behavior in his own greedy pursuit of money.

Randy Pitchford made several tweets on his official Twitter account regarding the accusations. Pitchford began by saying that the accusations “have no basis in reality or law” and that he is working to challenge the lawsuit against him. The CEO also stated his belief that Callendar is using these claims as a means for financial gain, and that he is shocked that a former friend and colleague would be doing this. While he mentions that the ongoing and pending nature of the lawsuit prevents him from getting too detailed with his statements, he did take the time to thank fans for their support.

The CEO also shared a recent statement from Gearbox, stating that “Gearbox will be filing a grievance with the State Bar of Texas against our former general counsel Wade.” It mentions their stance that the lawsuit filed by Wade is over matters that we’re untrue. It seems that this will likely be a lengthy legal battle, and hopefully the legal system is able to purse through the facts and find the truth in this conflict.
