PS5 DualSense Support Added To Steam Beta

PS5 DualSense Steam

The next generation of gaming has officially become the new generation as both the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 have arrived, offering console gamers an updated experience and fresh hardware to enjoy their games with. That said, this also means new peripherals are out in the wild, one of which being the PS5 DualSense, which is now supported on Steam.

Valve took to Steam recently to inform users that PS5 DualSense support has officially been added to the client beta, but it doesn’t come with all of the fancy new features. “Added initial input support for the PS5 DualSense controller,” reads the post. “Advanced features such as rumble, trackpad, and gyro are not yet supported.”

So, while the new controller does not come with all of the bells and whistles on Steam, it does function in the basic sense of the words. You can play your games with it, but you won’t feel your games with it. However, they do note that advanced bits “are not yet support,” indicating that we could possibly be seeing this stuff supported in the future.

There’s no denying that the PS5 DualSense is a gamechanger, providing users with haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and more that really add to the immersion. Whether or not these features will make it to Steam remains to be seen, but if they do, we’ll likely see developers also begin to add features to their games to take advantage of the advanced goodies. Only time will tell.

As for the PS5 DualSense, it is currently available for $69.99, or you can get one with a PlayStation 5 if you can actually find one. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
