Pokemon Journeys To Be The First Of Many Netflix Exclusives
The Pokemon franchise has been around for a very long time and has seen numerous adventures across multiple continents within the Pokemon universe. Through both the games and various other mediums such as the television shows, fans have been shown the wonders of the world that Ash Ketchum and his friends inhabit. While previously the shows have aired through multiple different sources such as Cartoon Network and Disney XD, it seems that the show will be moving to a new and more permanent home in the hopes of expanding its horizons with Pokemon Journeys.
The Pokemon Company recently reached an agreement with Netflix, making the streaming service the sole home of future episodes of the series. This agreement will begin with Netflix airing Pokemon Journeys: The Series, according to a recent press release and Emily Arons, senior vice president of international business at The Pokemon Company International explains that the team is excited to bring fans a new adventure to enjoy.
With their tremendous reach and ability for fans to enjoy content anytime and anywhere, Netflix is the ideal partner to premiere new episodes of the beloved animated Pokémon series in the U.S. We can’t wait for Pokémon fans of all ages to continue discovering the spirit of adventure and friendship in Pokémon Journeys: The Series, our newest season coming to Netflix this June.”
Pokemon Journeys will follow Ash and his trusty Pokemon best friend Pikachu as they head to the opening of the Cerise Laboratory, a research center with the purpose of studying Pokemon from around the world. Along the way, he’ll meet another boy named Goh who shares Ash’s enthusiasm for the subject, and eventually, the pair will become research companions of Professor Cerise.
The show is set to begin airing as a Netflix exclusive on June 12th and will join the likes of various other seasons of the Pokemon animated series as well as the recent movie, Mewtwo Strikes Back that arrived back in February.
