Pokemon GO’s Community Day Starts Today, Here’s What You Need To Know

Second Pokemon Go

With Pokemon GO continuing after its first year of availability on mobile, it seems that Niantic has made a greater effort of supporting the game with several events to keep the community coming back to the game for more. Raids have been added to the game allowing players to work with others to capture tough Pokemon such as the infamous Mewtwo and the Legendary Suicune. Last month, Pokemon go hosted its first community day, where players could earn triple XP and catch a Pikachu with the Surf ability. Now, a Pokemon Go Second Community Day is occurring, and here’s what you need to know going into the latest event

Forbes has reported on the details regarding the second Pokemon Go Second Community Day happening today. The event will start in the US at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET and run until 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET. For European players, this will fall between 10 AM GMT and 1 PM GMT. Specials for this event include 3x the amount of Stardust that players would normally get for capturing Pokemon, as well as lures lasting 3 hours, compared to the usual 30 minutes it would normally last.

The big grab for the last event was the abundance of a Pikachu that could learn the Surf ability. Now, the highly available rare Pokemon for this event is Dratini, which will appear much more frequently for players during this event. If players can catch enough Dratinis to evolve a Dragonair into Dragonite, the Dragonite will be awarded the powerful Dragon-type attack Draco Meteor. Players should note this ability will only be awarded if their Dragonite is evolved during the event timeframe. This is quite a nifty event for players, which will hopefully make many players mothers and fathers of many Dragonites. What do you guys think about this Pokemon Go Second Community Day event?
