PlayStation 5 Event Reportedly Rescheduled For Later This Week (UPDATED)

PlayStation 5 Games Event PS5

UPDATE: Sony has officially confirmed the PlayStation 5 event will be rescheduled for Thursday, June 11th at 1pm PT / 3pm CT / 4pm ET. As per the PlayStation Blog, the showcase will be pre-taped and broadcast at 1080p and 30fps – considerably lower than the console’s touted 4K capabilities – due to production constraints created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The original story is as follows.

Due to everything going on in the world, there are several events that are being cancelled, rescheduled, moved to an entirely online environment, and more. That said, Sony recently postponed their PlayStation 5 games lineup reveal to allow more important voices to be heard. Thanks to a recent ad on Twitch, however, it appears that we don’t have to wait too long for the PS5 event.

Notable industry insider and all-around information-sharer Nibel recently took to Twitter to share images from the ad that recently appeared on Twitch. As can be seen in the tweet below, the first one is in German, with the second being in English. According to the ad, the PlayStation 5 games lineup event will now be taking place at 4pm ET on Thursday, June 11th.

It isn’t exactly the normal announcement that one would expect from Sony, but if an ad appeared on Twitch, there is a pretty good chance that there is some legitimacy to it. We, of course, still don’t know what to expect from the upcoming PlayStation 5 event, but it looks like it will be taking place this Thursday at 4pm ET, and it will apparently be offering a look at “the future of gaming.” Either way, we are just going to have to wait and see if all of this is legit and just how good the future looks.

The PlayStation 5 is currently in development with an expected release set for the holiday 2020 season. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
