Beautiful Fan-Made Overwatch Cairo Map Catches Jeff Kaplan’s Attention

Overwatch Cairo Map

Remember that absolutely beautiful fan-made Overwatch Cairo map that popped up recently? Well, it seems to have been making the rounds on the internet, even garnering the attention of somebody that might know a thing or two about the game. Jeff “From the Overwatch Team” Kaplan himself has noticed, and we can only imagine how sweaty Joshua Llorente’s palms are right now.

When Llorente posted his gorgeous creation to Reddit, he probably didn’t expect too much attention. Well, he likely did anticipate a certain level of awareness due to the exceptional work he had done creating the Overwatch Cairo map, but not on the level of the game director himself responding. “Amazing work! We’ll be in touch,” Kaplan commented. It’s as if every fan of the game collectively squeed in joy for Joshua, the self-taught 3D artist who could very well be working for Blizzard before we know it. For a refresher, check out the video below to see the amount of detail that went into making the map:

Without a doubt, the art style screams Overwatch. After all, that’s what caught the attention of so many to begin with – it actually looks like something that would be in the game. That being said, the walkthrough above shows that the map has quite a bit going on. With a seemingly endless amount of passages and whatnot dispersed throughout, if Blizzard were to bring Llorente and his Overwatch Cairo map on board, they might make a few tweaks. Either way, it’s exciting to think of the possibilities that lie ahead for Joshua and his possible employment opportunities.

Overwatch is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with the Lunar New Year event set to take place relatively soon. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming news, check out the following:

What say you, gamers? Is it exciting to think that Llorente’s Overwatch Cairo map could actually be making an appearance in-game sometime in the future?
