Original Star Wars Battlefront II Receives New Update After 12 Years
No, this is not the 2017 release of Star Wars Battlefront II released by EA and DICE studios. It is, in fact, the original Star Wars game of the same name that was created by Pandemic 12 odd years ago, and it has recently received a brand new update for PC. This follows after a recent patch release for the modern title and the mixed interest levels from the fanbase since the microtransactions fiasco.
With all the hoopla generated after witnessing a shirtless and muscular Kylo Ren, it may be realistic and humbly to most to know that won’t be happening with the first Star Wars Battlefront II, or any other totally canon parts of the main storyline.
This isn’t even the first update the 2005 game has received in the past few months with one as recent as October. Though the aforementioned seems rather minuscule in comparison, which includes minor bug fixes and performance optimizations, the biggest news from last year was that multiplayer support has returned. Titled “It’s Back…And In Even Greater Numbers”, Disney released this statement on Steam:
Star Wars fans rejoice! Multiplayer support has returned for Battlefront II. Now you can draft your friends to the 501st legion and join up to 64 other players in a heated online battle for control of the galaxy.”
Perhaps this is a jab at all the controversial matters surrounding Electronic Arts, or Disney has a plan to bring the game back after more than a decade has passed. Whatever the case may be, this may be an escape for those disappointed by what the modern title has become. Maybe, maybe not. The 2005 title by Pandemic and LucasArts is a first- and third-person shooter that features 16 new battlefronts, an enhanced single-player experience, an online multiplayer experience and more. As for the single-player campaign, you’re implored to “join the rise of Darth Vader’s elite 501st Legion of Stormtroopers” in story-driven combat.
