Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Announces Three DLC Fighters (VIDEO)
As media companies with catalogs of popular characters seek to make video games, there are tried-and-true genres of games that have proven themselves to work well with these franchises. This past decade, it seems companies have looked to the Super Smash Bros. style of crossover fighting games to adapt their characters in a manner that can easily attract audiences. One such instance of this lately has been Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, which collects the classic children’s animated characters inhabited on the cable channel since the 90s against each other. The game has already added DLC fighters like Garfield, and now three more DLC fighters have been confirmed.
Developer Ludosity released a new Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl DLC fighters trailer, which IGN shared on YouTube. The trailer begins by showing standard gameplay footage of Reptar the dinosaur from Rugrats in the game. Suddenly, Reptar is challenged by none other than XJ-9, a.k.a. Jenny, the protagonist of the Nicktoon series “My Life As A Teenage Robot” between 2003 and 2007. Her moveset largely consists of attacks based on her limbs that change into weapons like blades and rocket launchers. The trailer confirms that XJ-9 is the first of three new DLC characters coming this year, with her being made available now for download.
The Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl DLC fighters trailer also quickly reveals the other two DLC fighters coming in 2022. Surprisingly, the first is Hugh Neutron, the father of boy genius Jimmy Neutron in the Jimmy Neutron film and TV series. In recent years, the character has risen in popularity as a meme of sorts, largely due to his aloof personality and dad-style sense of humor heavily reliant on duck and pie puns. Lastly, the final DLC character was revealed to be Rocko from Rocko’s Modern Life. Hugh will be made available for download sometime this summer, and Rocko will be set to arrive in the fall. It’s good to see Ludosity providing more fighters, especially ones so beloved by internet memelords. Let’s hope they add Jimmy Neutron later next year, so Jimbo can be sent to the Shadow Realm.
