New Xbox Live Avatars Look Like Pixar Characters – Coming This Fall (VIDEO)
Multiple consoles over the years have done something with digital avatars. While some are able to interact with each other such as Nintendo’s Mii characters, others just sit around without much to do but be a digital representation of the players such as the Avatars for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. A year ago, Xboss Phil Spencer confirmed that avatars would be returning and be revamped but it’s been some time before anything new has come to light. During one of the Xbox Daily livestreams at E3, fans were able to catch a glimpse of the new Xbox Live avatars.
The trailer seen above focuses on the huge diverse ways players will be able to “express themselves” featuring clothes, hats, and accessories similar to the current avatars. However, the new avatars also focus on inclusivity, allowing any items to be equipped on any character regardless of gender as well as new items such as wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs, and more. All of which can be utilized to create your perfect digital self.
Also fitting in with the theme of diversity is the RGB color wheel, allowing players to fine tune those colors of any characters just right. Xbox Live avatars will not be one size fits all like the current versions are. The new avatar system will allow players to change the size of their digital-selves. How this will work exactly is yet to be seen however. Perhaps players will be able to use their Kinect devices to scan their bodies as an option in the character creator.
Xbox Live avatars 2.0 will be coming sometime this Fall. What else would you like to see out of the new avatars? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. As always, don’t forget to follow Don’t Feed the Gamers on Twitter for 24/7 coverage of all things gaming and entertainment.
