New PlayStation 5 Announcement Reportedly Arriving This Month

PlayStation 5 Console Design PS5

Sony finally unveiled their next generation of hardware back in June, but fans have a handful of other questions regarding the PlayStation 5. That said, it looks like we might be getting some answers before the end of the month.

An anonymous source from PlayStation recently told Bloomberg that Sony is planning to release more information about the PlayStation 5, and that the announcement is “tentatively” scheduled for August. No other details were shared, but it is entirely possible that Sony will finally be offering up information regarding not only the price of the upcoming consoles, but also when fans can expect to get their hands on them.

In a recent interview with Geoff Keighley, Worldwide Head of Marketing Eric Lempel noted that Sony won’t be surprising fans with a pre-order, but will offer a heads up. “I think it’s safe to say…we’ll let you know when preorder will happen,” Lempel said. “It’s not going to happen with a minute’s notice. We’re going to at some point let you know when you can preorder PlayStation 5. So, please, don’t feel like you have to go run out and line up anywhere until you receive official notice on how that will work.”

This would suggest that if an August announcement is in the works, it could possibly be in regards to pre-ordering the PlayStation 5. Of course, that could also potentially mean we would learn the price as well, but it’s really anyone’s guess at this point. For all we know, they could just be telling us when pre-orders will go live and that’s it. Then again, that’s if an August announcement is in the works to begin with.

PlayStation 5 is still planned for a holiday 2020 launch. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
