New Overwatch Patch Testing Available on PTR – New Nerfs, Buffs, and More

Overwatch Patch Testing

We learned recently that Overwatch players should expect a nerf to hit Roadhog fairly soon, although this change in power would likely be tested first in the game’s Public Testing Region.  Now, additional changes are now being introduced in the PTR, as New Overwatch patch testing for the game’s latest update has now been made available. The official blog at has officially detailed the new additions and updates brought forth in this latest patch, which is playable only on PC. The post also details how PC players can participate in the testing.

Perhpas the biggest new addition is the Emote Wheel, which allows players to equip up to 4 emotes, sprays, and voice lines from the hero gallery. These emotes can also be bound to unique keys or mouse buttons. The patch also brings several balancing changes to some of the game’s heroes. Ana’s biotic grenade has now lowered its healing levels by 50% and D.Va’s armor has been halved, due to perceptions of these particular qualities being overpowered. The aforementioned changes to Roadhog’s hog are also implemented in this update, with targets of the hook now only ending up right in front of Roadhog instead of directly being brought to him.  This also means no more hooking enemies from around corners. Also, Sombra’s hacking has been speed up from 1 second to 0.8 seconds per hack.

The patch is rounded out with a few minor updates, such as the “Stay as Team” button now lighting up whenever a teammate clicks it, hero ability icons now being on display, and many various bug fixes.
