New Fortnite Game Mode Takes Cues From Among Us
Among Us has been around for a while but it wasn’t until recently that the quirky social deduction game truly took off to become a major hit with fans. Epic Games’ Fortnite has also been around the block as well and over time the title has seen multiple modes that mimic or feature content from various popular franchises such as Apex Legends, The Avengers, and more to bring unique gameplay opportunities for fans to engage with. Now it seems that Among Us is the next property that will see Fortnite spin, with a new game mode called The Spy Within.

The Fortnite team recently made a post describing just how the mode works, operating similarly to the rules of Among Us. Players are broken up into two teams, one consisting of 8 Agents and the other being made up of 2 Spies. Unable to discern who is who, players on the Agent side will need to complete objectives to earn gold coins all the while keeping an eye out for anything or anyone suspicious. Should they discover any dastardly deeds taking place or shady characters lurking about, players can call a meeting to discuss their findings and make a decision as to who to cast out, eliminating the suspected Spy in the process.
Spies on the other hand will need to find a way to eliminate the other players before being discovered and eliminated themselves. While they are limited in numbers, the rogue Spy faction does have the advantage of communication being disabled until a meeting is called. By participating in the event as either of the two teams and completing challenges, fans will also be able to unlock some unique rewards, including several holiday-themed cosmetics and a Spy Within skateboard.
Fortnite and the Spy Within limited-time game mode are currently available for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
